British actress Samantha Eggar, an Oscar-nominated performer celebrated for her roles in “The Collector” and “Doctor Doolittle,” has passed away at the age of 86. She died in Los Angeles.

Eggar earned an Academy Award nomination for her memorable lead performance in the 1965 thriller “The Collector.” She also famously starred as Emma Fairfax in the 1967 musical fantasy “Doctor Doolittle.”

Reports from TMZ indicated that Eggar’s death followed a long illness.

Her daughter, actress Jenna Stern, confirmed the news. Stern shared an emotional tribute to her mother.
