Hema Malini celebrated her 77th birthday on October 16, receiving a heartfelt tribute from veteran actress Saira Banu. Banu penned a special note for Malini, sharing it on social media.
Known affectionately as the ‘Dream Girl,’ Hema Malini marks her 77th birthday today. Saira Banu offered her best wishes to the actress, who debuted opposite Raj Kapoor in the film ‘Sapnon Ka Saudagar.’
Banu shared a special photograph on Instagram to wish Hema Malini. The image features Dilip Kumar, Hema Malini, and Saira Banu together.
Alongside the picture, Banu wrote, “My heart swells with joy as I wish my dearest friend, @dreamgirlhemamalini, a very happy birthday today. Hema has always been an epitome of beauty, grace, and quiet strength.”
Banu further stated, “She is the true ‘Dream Girl,’ not just in films, but in every sense. Our friendship spans many years, filled with warmth, respect, and cherished memories from a time when life was brightened by cinema, laughter, and togetherness.”
She added, “Recently, she visited our home, where we spent hours discussing old stories, films, and life. Her soul still holds the same gentleness that makes her beloved by all.”
Banu recounted their first meeting in 1966. She met Hema Malini at RK Studios on the set of the film ‘Diwana.’ Malini was accompanied by her producer, Ananthaswamy.
They later reunited during a shoot at Krishna Raj Sagar Dam, where their rooms were adjacent. “Every evening, my mother, Hema, and her mother would sit for hours, chatting, sharing beauty secrets, and laughing,” Banu recalled.
“I reminded her how her mother used to perfume her hair with frankincense,” Banu continued. “She laughed in surprise that I still remembered it!”
Banu also revealed how she and Dilip Kumar introduced Hema Malini to the press in Madras. Hema Malini vividly recalled Dilip Kumar’s kindness that day, saying his words remained in her heart.
Banu recently saw Hema Malini dancing with Dharmendra on a TV show. “Their love and ease with each other touched my heart, reminding me of the beauty of lasting companionship,” Banu noted.
She concluded her message: “Dearest Hema, may your days always be filled with the same light and love you give to others. May you receive abundant happiness, peace, and good health.”
