An appointment to which the Spanish couple arrives with renewed enthusiasm and objective, ready to fight for everything, also for the title.
“The whole team, Laia and myself, are very excited because we want to fight for everything. The experience we acquired in 2021 has to help us take a step forward and fight for better results and even for the championship”, assures the man from Madrid. I think it will be a different year from 2021, because we did not start from scratch. The team already has experience and I myself have been able to do many more kilometers on four wheels, so I am convinced that I will be able to help the team much more”, points the Catalan.
Both arrive highly motivated at the X Prix del Desierto that opens the season in the Arab country. This is what Sainz says: “I am really looking forward to the first X Prix to show how much progress we have made. The level of the championship is really high, but we want to win and, at the same time, send the strongest possible message about the importance of respect for the environment and sustainability. It is a pride that what we can do with a completely Spanish project”.
“I did my first Dakar in a car and I think that will be very good for this season. It is true that I still lack experience in hand-to-hand fights, but little by little I am getting used to it and I am convinced that this season will be much better for us and that we will be able to opt for better results. The level of the championship rose a lot during 2021 and everything suggests that in 2022 it will be even more close, so I am already looking forward to getting started”, declares Laia.
