A sailor is in critical condition after being injured in a collision with a tugboat in the Puerto de Montevideo. The incident has left the man, hired by a private company, with several organs compromised due to the severity of the impact, which was described as a “chicotazo” by Alejandro Pérez, spokesman of the National Navy.
The victim, a 41-year-old Peruvian national named Cash, remains hospitalized in the CTI of the Spanish Association, where he is receiving treatment for his injuries. Fortunately, another sailor who was also involved in the incident and received a blow from the tugboat is out of danger.
The collision between the tugboats in the port of Montevideo occurred when a corporal broke due to being overstressed by a Guinche, leading to the accident. The National Navy is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine the cause and prevent similar accidents from happening in the future. The condition of the injured sailor remains a concern, and authorities are closely monitoring his progress.
