Saif Ali Khan Attack Case Twist: Only 1 of 20 Fingerprints Matches Accused Sharyful Islam

Saif Ali Khan was attacked at his home on January 16. A man named Mohd. Shariful Islam allegedly broke in to steal something. During the incident, Shariful stabbed Saif multiple times, leaving him badly hurt. The Mumbai police filed a 1000-page charge sheet a few months later. Now, new details have come to light.

The police found 20 fingerprints at Saif’s house after the attack. The State CID Fingerprint Bureau examined them. Shockingly, 19 of these prints didn’t match Shariful’s. The prints were found on the bathroom door, bedroom sliding door, and wardrobe.

Fingerprint Mismatch Doesn’t Surprise Police

Mumbai police sources told Network 18 that the fingerprint mismatch isn’t a big deal. Many people touch the same things, so it’s common for prints not to match. This makes it hard to rely on them as solid evidence.

Knife Pieces Tell a Different Story

A police officer told ANI that they have strong evidence against Shariful. The knife used in the attack was broken into three pieces. One piece was found at the crime scene, another was removed from Saif’s body, and the third was recovered from Shariful. The three pieces matched perfectly.

Shariful’s Motive Revealed

The Mumbai police charge sheet includes CCTV footage from Saif’s staircase, Shariful’s identification report, and forensic lab findings. The police say Shariful broke in to steal something. He didn’t know whose house it was. Shariful needed ₹30,000 to make a fake ID card, which led him to commit the crime.

Shariful’s Bail Plea Opposed by Police

Shariful, who is currently in jail, has filed a bail plea. The police have opposed it. According to the police, when Shariful realized he was in Saif Ali Khan’s house, he panicked and attacked the actor to escape. Saif was hospitalized for nearly a week after the attack.
