The stage is set for a thrilling showdown between FC Porto and Palmeiras in the opening match of Group A at the Club World Cup. Said Martínez, a seasoned Honduran referee, will take center stage as the main official, backed by assistants Wálter Lopez and Christian Ramírez.
Omar Al Ali from the United Arab Emirates will be the fourth official.
For 33-year-old Martínez, this will be his second intercontinental competition, following his stint at the 2019 Under-20 World Cup. He’s been on the international scene since 2017, when he was just 26.
The action unfolds at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Sunday at 11 PM.
