Sabonis and Brogdon team up in Pacers win

Domantas Sabonis scored 21 points, Malcolm Brogdon added 16 more and the Indiana Pacers defeated the Chicago Bulls 109-77 on Monday night.

Myles Turner also scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Indiana’s second straight victory.

Dominican Chris Duarte scored 9 points, grabbed six rebounds and gave three assists during the 23 minutes he was on the court, coming off the bench.

"It feels like we’re standing up"said Pacers coach Rick Carlisle."We are a team that is not getting any free lunch from anyone. We have to accept that fact, and it has to be something that brings us closer and closer".

DeMar DeRozan led the Bulls with 18 points, while Zach LaVine scored 17, only the second time this season that he was limited to less than 20 points.

It was a one-sided affair for much of the night, with Indiana extending its lead to 35 points in the fourth. Chicago had some offensive streaks, but finished with 36.5% shooting for the game. The Bulls played their reserves throughout the final frame.

The Pacers came out the door firing full blast offensively, opening with a 26-9 run. Justin Holiday and Caris LeVert each scored six points in the first four minutes.

"Beating a team that has a lot of power and that is doing well is something important for us"said Holiday."We’ve been trying to figure out how we can play the full 48 minutes. Our main goal is to play together and play hard. To be able to do that tonight and win it the way we did, it’s good for our team. to see that when we play that way it works ".

Indiana led 67-46 at halftime thanks to a strong effort on the glass, rebounding the Bulls 28-16 in the first two quarters. DeRozan helped drive a 10-3 run for Chicago to cut the second-quarter deficit to eight, but key baskets by Brogdon and Kelan Martin down the stretch pushed the Pacers’ lead to 21 points at halftime.

Chicago, who played on the second night of a back-to-back, seemed slow at first, hitting 7-of-22 from the floor in the first quarter, including just 1 of 7 3-pointers.

"We lost some good looks"said Bulls coach Billy Donovan."As the game started to turn into double figures, we got very, very stuck. The ball didn’t move well enough and we didn’t generate enough for each other".
