World number one Aryna Sabalenka cemented her position atop the rankings and secured a spot in the WTA Finals semifinals with a commanding victory over American Coco Gauff.
Sabalenka, 27, defeated the third-ranked reigning U.S. Open champion Gauff in straight sets, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2, on Thursday.
The win marked Sabalenka’s third consecutive triumph in the prestigious season-ending tournament, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
She finished first in the Stefanie Graf Group, underscoring her dominant performance among the elite field of eight players.
The WTA Finals gathers the top eight women’s tennis players globally to compete for the championship.
