Sabadell goes to the quarterfinals and sets aside a Mataró fighter

Before the meeting between CN Sabadell and CN Mataró, which was played at 2:00 p.m. in the Can Llong pool, Dunaujvaros had gotten rid of Ferencvaros by 10-13, so his ticket to the quarterfinals of the Euroleague was assured. From the fratricidal duel that followed, between Catalans, barely separated by 60 kilometers, only one would pass the round and the other would say goodbye to the most special competition of the season. The award went to Sabadell, first in the group.

Dani Ballart’s Mataró needed to win by more than three goals to get to the next round. And there was a moment in the match, in the second set, that was one attack away from meeting the goal: 4-7 up, captained by the visitors by Anni Espar and by the arm of Bella Markoch, who finally scored three goals. But CN Sabadell, in which his buoy Maica García could not be decisive, took out his own love not to miss the classification. Goals from Catharina Van der Sloot were key, such as 9-10 with a minute to go. There the encounter died.

Bitter victories for CN Terrassa and CE Mediterrani

CE Mediterrani has had a place in the quarterfinals to play. They did their homework, with a comfortable 12-17 victory against Greek Glyfada, in a crazy match with advantages for both teams and sets of up to nine and ten goals. Clara Espar, with five goals, was the top scorer once again. But the victory was a dead letter since in the other group match played in Padova, between the local team and the Russian Kirishi, the score was 7-7, so the Italians pass first and the Russians second in the group.
