My Focus is on Playing According to the Team’s Needs

When asked about his batting position, Gaikwad said it is difficult to compare with Virat Kohli or think about filling his place. He emphasized that he never tries to fill someone’s gap, he prefers to focus on his own career and play where the team needs him. Gaikwad added that whether he opens the batting or comes in at number three, there is not much difference for him, as he faces the new ball in both situations.

Playing for CSK Changed My Perspective towards the Game

Gaikwad took responsibility as captain of the Chennai Super Kings team in IPL 2024, but the team did not perform as expected. Even though the outcome was not what was hoped for, Gaikwad confessed that this experience changed his attitude towards the game, making him more aware of different aspects of cricket. However, he emphasized that his style of batting did not change, and he never tried to alter his approach to suit different situations.
