Ruturaj Gaikwad is set to make his County Championship debut in England. After touring with India A, where he didn’t get a chance to play, Gaikwad has signed with Yorkshire. He’ll join the team next month to face Surrey.
Gaikwad will play in the County Championship and One-Day Cup. Though the duration of his deal is unknown, he’ll be with Yorkshire until the end of the domestic season. “I’m excited to join Yorkshire for the English domestic season,” Gaikwad said. “Playing in England has always been a goal, and there’s no bigger club than Yorkshire.”
Gaikwad has been out of cricket for over two months due to an elbow injury. He played just five matches in the 2025 IPL, scoring 122 runs at an average of 24.40, including one half-century. During his absence, MS Dhoni led the team, but they had a poor season, finishing last in the points table.
Yorkshire’s New Signing
Gaikwad’s move to Yorkshire is a significant one. The team announced his signing on Twitter, saying he’ll join the squad ahead of the County Championship game against Surrey. Gaikwad will wear the White Rose until the end of the season.
