Russo Brothers May Return to Direct New Avengers Movies

- Kevin Feige tasked them with the MCU’s most ambitious projects to date, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
The Russo brothers decided to do other things than the MCU after the outcome of the Infinity Saga, with actors who worked in these films. In 2021, they released Cherry, a film for Apple TV+ with Tom Holland, and the following year they introduced us to The Gray Man, a Netflix film starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and Ana de Armas.
As if this were not enough, Joe and Anthony Russo were producers of successful projects such as Everything Everywhere All at Once (which won the Oscar for Best Picture in 2023), as well as the Amazon television series, Citadel, and the two parts of Extraction with Chris Hemsworth.
It is no secret to anyone that Marvel Studios is struggling to find who will direct the new Avengers movies. It was initially expected that Destin Daniel Cretton, who was behind Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, would be set to headline Kang Dynasty, but stepped down from the project in 2023. It is even said that the director of Deadpool & Wolverine, Shawn Levy, was offered the job, but apparently turned it down.
As we mentioned before, Anthony and Joe Russo are still in early talks to return to the MCU and it’s not a done deal yet. In fact, this 2024 they will release a new film on Netflix, Electric State, a sci-fi adventure starring Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown.
