Kabul: An explosion occurred near the Russian embassy in Afghanistan, as a result of which two diplomatic staff members lost their lives.
According to foreign media reports, the explosion occurred near the Russian diplomatic mission in Kabul, where unknown assailants attacked the entrance of the consular section of the Russian embassy with explosives.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, while confirming the incident in Kabul, said that two people were killed and several others were injured in the attack.
Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the two killed in the attack were employees of the diplomatic mission, while several Afghan citizens were also among the injured.
According to the eyewitnesses, a large number of people were present at the accident site at the time of the bomb blast, due to which it is feared that the number of casualties may increase.
The Russian Foreign Ministry says the embassy is in close contact with Afghan security services investigating the incident.
It should be remembered that after the control of Taliban in Kabul, diplomatic missions of a few countries are working in Afghanistan, including Russia.
