At least three civilians have been killed and more than 14 injured by Russian missile and drone strikes in Ukraine over the past 24 hours.

Several apartment buildings were damaged in the attacks in the capital, Kiev, and five people were injured, the city’s mayor said. Meanwhile, in the southern port city of Odessa, a warehouse was hit, killing a security guard.

Apart from this, officials also reported explosions from Kharkiv, Kherson and Mykolaiv.

The Ukrainian military says these attacks were carried out for four hours after midnight. 16 missiles were fired across Ukraine.

Ukrainian forces say 61 airstrikes and 52 rockets were fired at various towns and military targets.

Officials also said about 35 Iranian-made Shahed drones were destroyed.

The attacks come at a time when Ukraine is expected to launch a counter-offensive against Russia sometime in the coming days.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway in Moscow to mark the anniversary of the Russian victory in World War II on Tuesday.
