Russian missile attack in Odessa, church destroyed

At least one person was killed in a Russian missile attack on the Ukrainian port city of Odessa. At least 19 people were injured. An Orthodox cathedral was heavily damaged in the attack. Al-Jazeera news

Odesa Governor Oleg Kiper said on the Telegram messaging app that some of the injured in Sunday’s missile attack included children.

He said, ‘Russian monsters have launched another attack in the dark of night. 14 people have been hospitalized, including 3 children.’

Russia fired Onyx missiles at Odessa and Kalibr cruise missiles from the sea, Ukraine’s air force said in a telegram.

They say the Ukrainian Orthodox Church’s (UOC) Spaso-Preobrazhensky cathedral was severely damaged in the attack.

Photos and videos released by Odessa officials show parts of the 18th-century building destroyed. Inside is just rubble.
