Russian bombers and North American Air Force planes came face to face in the air. The US Air Force claims it intercepted the Russian bombers.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) said Russian strategic bombers and fighter jets were intercepted by North American air defense forces as they flew over international airspace near Alaska.
The joint US-Canadian center said in a statement on February 14 that the Russian plane identified on Monday did not enter US or Canadian airspace.
“NORAD, anticipating this Russian activity, intercepted the Russian aircraft with two F-16 fighter jets,” according to the statement.
“NORAD routinely monitors foreign aircraft movements and responds when necessary.”
