Dmitry Peskov said, “Unfortunately, some aspects of the Black Sea Treaty related to Russia have not been implemented so far.” As a result, this contract has been suspended. We will come back to the agreement when the issues related to Russia are implemented according to the agreement.

Russia and Ukraine signed the ‘Black Sea Grain Agreement’ brokered by the United Nations and Turkey in July last year. The contract is due to expire on Monday.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres also wrote to Russian President Vladimir Putin to renew the agreement.

Prior to the deal, the Russian military had blockaded Ukraine’s ports. As a result, it is not clear whether grain exports will be possible if Russia withdraws from the agreement.
