Russia Ukrian War: The war between Russia and Ukraine that started on 24 February is still going on. Neither Russia seems to be winning in this battle, nor does Ukraine seem to be losing. At the beginning of the war, it was believed that Ukraine would succumb to a power like Russia in a few days, but with the help of weapons received from America and NATO countries, it has caused considerable damage to Russia. Russia claims that NATO countries are adding fuel to the fire by providing weapons to Ukraine. He has trained the Ukrainian army in the name of defense cooperation and has prepared Kyiv for a major war.
Russia started the war as a special military operation, believing that Ukraine’s efforts to join NATO were drawing Western countries closer to the East. Now the Ministry of Defense of Russia has released a list of countries giving arms to Ukraine. They have also been accused of instigating war. The names of these countries are-
America- Russia alleges that the US played a key role in the March 2014 coup in Russia. The US gave Ukraine $32 million in aid for six months from March to September for military improvements, blind-sighting equipment and communications equipment. Apart from this it has also handed over a large consignment of M142 HIMARS Rocket System, M777 Howitzer, Ammunition, Stringer Missile, Harpoor Missile, Uniform for Soldiers, Military Ration to Ukraine.
Former US President Barack Obama signed the ‘Ukraine Freedom Support Act’ during his tenure on December 18, 2014, which was approved by Congress. Since then, America has been continuously providing lethal weapons to Ukraine. In 2015, the US gave Ukraine 230 Humvee armored vehicles and Raven drones.
Britain- Britain ranks second in terms of arms to Ukraine. The two countries’ military cooperation plan, Operation Orbital, has been in effect since 2015. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson visited the capital Kyiv in the middle of the war to express support for Ukraine. Britain has handed over at least 75 Saxon armored vehicles and Land Rover Defender armored reconnaissance and communication vehicles to Kyiv. In addition it has provided Ukraine with medical equipment, tactical gear, night vision equipment and GPS navigators. They are worth more than 4.5 million dollars. In 2022, London also handed over a large consignment of light anti-tank missiles to Ukraine.
Lithuania- Lithuania is the first country to give military aid to Ukraine after its change of power in February 2014. He has given her Soviet-era arms and ammunition several times. It had taken these weapons out of service after joining NATO. In 2016, Lithuania delivered 150 tonnes of military supplies to Ukraine. These contained millions of rounds, mainly 5.45 mm for Kalashnikov assault rifles. In 2017 and 2019 also Lithuania supplied ammunition to Ukraine. In 2022 Lithuania handed over the Norwegian NASAMS multiple-launch rocket system in addition to thermal imaging monitoring equipment to Ukraine.
Poland- In July 2016, Ukraine and Poland signed an agreement on the supply and training of weapons and military equipment. According to reports, Poland had supplied 50 M57 mortars, 9 MT-LB multipurpose armored personal vehicles, 15 heavy machine guns, two AK-176M gun mounts, parachute systems and 100 recoilless guns to Ukraine.
Republica Checa- This country has also not lagged behind in giving aid to Ukraine. In 2018, the Czechoslovak Group, a private company in the Czech Republic, announced that it would deliver 200 BVP-1 infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine. He also talked about repairing the 2S1 Gvozdika howitzer. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry appointed Czech Defense Systems A.S. The deal to buy Rapira artillery guns was also finalized. It was claimed that in 2021 the Czech Republic supplied 26 Dana-M2 self-propelled guns to Ukraine.
Bulgaria- In 2015, Bulgaria produced ammunition for the Ukrainian army with US funds. This is how the RPG-7V hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher and its shells were created. In February 2021, Kyiv purchased from Bulgaria 100,000 40mm rounds for GP-25/30 underbarrel grenade launchers, 1.5 million rounds of 7.62x54mm ammunition for Dragunov sniper rifles and Kalashnikov submachine guns.
France- In 2014, a consignment of bulletproof jackets from France arrived in Ukraine. In February 2021, 60 APILAS anti-tank rocket launchers were handed over to the Special Forces of Ukraine. In October of the same year, the US handed over a cargo ship of military equipment to Kyiv which included, among other weapons, the French APILAS hand-held anti-tank rocket launchers.
Turkey- In the year 2018-2020, Ukraine bought Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicle from Turkey. Through this, the Ukrainian army has carried out tremendous airstrikes against Russian-backed rebels in the Donbass. Even during the fighting that started in 2022, this Turkish drone has caused heavy damage to the Russian army.
