Kiev : An almost war-like situation has arisen between Russia and Ukraine. Meanwhile, Ukraine has declared a nationwide emergency. Ukraine declared a nationwide state of emergency after Russian President Vladimir Putin was granted the right to use military force outside his country.

Russia evacuates embassy in Ukraine

Meanwhile, Western countries announced a series of sanctions against Russia and Moscow evacuated its embassy premises in Ukraine and evacuated diplomatic personnel. Ukrainian lawmakers have approved President Volodymyr Zelensky’s order to impose a nationwide state of emergency that will last for 30 days starting Thursday.

Russian troops ready to attack: US

A senior US defense official said Russian forces stationed near Ukraine’s borders were fully prepared for an attack if ordered. The official, on condition of anonymity, said that 80 per cent of the troops are fully prepared and stationed within a radius of five to 50 km from the border. “We cannot yet confirm whether Russian forces have entered Donbass (rebel-held area in Ukraine),” he said.

Russia accused of attack

Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations urged countries around the world to help stop Ukraine’s continuing violence and “gross genocide” in Ukraine’s eastern separatist regions. Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, told the UN General Assembly on Wednesday that there should be no intention of showing leniency to those who violate the peace in Ukraine’s eastern regions. He said that thousands of people coming to Russia from Luhansk and Donetsk shows that Ukraine treats them disrespectfully.
