Russia proposes to shoot corrupt officials

According to Dmitry Rogozin, head of the Russian space agency Roscosmos, the punishment for corruption in Russia’s military-industrial complex should be stricter, and the perpetrator would be killed by firing squad.

Speaking to Russian media, Rogozin said that corruption in the sector is not only the theft of state funds, but also the theft of security, which could harm Russia’s national security. No concessions should be made.

“Even when he was in parliament, he had said publicly that, in my opinion, corruption in the military-industrial complex should be punished by shooting and not by prison,” he added.

It should be noted that Russia currently has a ban on the death penalty, which was introduced in 1997 when Russia joined the Council of Europe.
