Russia: Gas blast kills 5 in residential building

MOSCOW (Reuters) – The death toll from a domestic gas explosion at a residential building in Nogansk, near Moscow, has risen to five, the Central Directorate of Emergency Situations in the Russian capital Moscow told media.

It may be recalled that a gas explosion took place in a 9-storey residential building in the Russian capital Moscow yesterday, as a result of which the death toll has now reached 5.

According to the report of foreign news agency, 5 people were killed and several others were injured as a result of gas explosion.

The blast destroyed part of the second, third and fourth floors of a nine-story residential building and damaged 24 apartments, officials said.

More than 170 people have been evacuated, but it is not yet known how many are still under the rubble. Rescue teams are conducting a search and rescue operation.
