According to the Ministry of Defense of Russia, Ukraine carried out a large-scale attack in the Donetsk region with six mechanized and two tank battalions on Sunday local time.
For the past few months, Ukraine has been announcing plans to launch a counter-offensive against Russia to recover the territories it has seized. However, it was not confirmed whether the attack, which the Russian Defense Ministry is talking about, triggered a counterattack by Ukraine.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said in a message on Telegram, “On the morning of June 4, the enemy launched a large-scale attack targeting five sectors of southern Donetsk.”
The message also said that Ukrainian forces wanted to break Russian defenses. But the enemy could not achieve their goal. They did not get any success.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that Ukraine lost 250 soldiers and 16 tanks while carrying out this attack.
