Russia and Ukraine released each other’s military prisoners

An agreement between Russia and Ukraine has freed each other’s captured soldiers, 50 from both countries. 50 prisoners were released.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Sunday that the Russian soldiers have returned home after being released and will be taken to Moscow for medical and psychological rehabilitation.

As a result of the talks on January 8, 50 Russian soldiers were sent back from the Kokiv regime-controlled area because they were at risk of contracting a deadly disease while in captivity, the Defense Ministry said.

The Ukrainian government has also confirmed this information and said that Russia has expelled 50 Ukrainian soldiers under the same agreement.

It should be noted that this is the first agreement for the year 2023, while an agreement was reached on December 31 last year, after which 82 Russian soldiers returned from captivity in Ukraine.

Since the beginning of the Russian special military operation in February last year, several thousand prisoners have been exchanged between the two sides.
