Sporting CP is preparing for a pivotal Champions League match against Italian giants Juventus this week, grappling with the absence of four key players due to injury.
Defenders Fresneda and Debast, along with midfielders Daniel Bragança and Nuno Santos, are all sidelined. All four players remain under the care of the club’s medical department and will not travel for the match in Turin.
The fixture marks the fourth round of the UEFA Champions League group stage. It is scheduled for Tuesday evening in Turin, Italy, at 8:00 PM local time (2 p.m. ET).
Coach Rui Borges has already begun preparing his squad for the challenging European encounter. His team returns to action following a 2-0 victory against Alverca in domestic competition, after which they were given a day off.
The Lisbon-based club is set to train Monday morning at its academy. The team will then depart for Italy early Monday afternoon.
Borges, accompanied by a player, will hold the traditional pre-match press conference at Juventus Stadium on Monday at 6:30 PM local time (12:30 p.m. ET).
