A new line of rugged smartphones featuring a pioneering hot-swappable battery design is poised to enter the European market, promising uninterrupted operation and a significant step toward enhanced sustainability in outdoor technology.
Ulefone, a prominent electronics manufacturer, officially unveiled its new outdoor-focused brand, RugOne, and its inaugural product, the Xever 7 series, at the IFA Berlin 2025 technology fair. The series is positioned as the first outdoor smartphone to feature a user-removable battery.
This innovation is specifically engineered to ensure continuous functionality in demanding professional environments, such as security, rescue operations, construction, and heavy industry. It also caters to outdoor enthusiasts who require extreme reliability.
Each Xever 7 unit includes two 5550 mAh removable batteries and a dual charging station. This setup allows users to swap batteries without powering down the device, ensuring 24/7 autonomy.
This design choice aligns with new European ecodesign directives, promoting greater sustainability and actively working to reduce electronic waste. RugOne’s philosophy centers on redefining outdoor technology by prioritizing reparability, durability, and a lower environmental impact, without compromising design.
The brand leverages Ulefone’s extensive experience in manufacturing and supply chain management to deliver robust and reliable products. Its name, RugOne, is a portmanteau of “Rugged” and “Top One,” reflecting its ambition to lead the rugged mobility sector.
Beyond its unique power solution, the Xever 7 series boasts a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, optimized for outdoor visibility. Its advanced camera system includes a 50 MP main sensor with optical and electronic image stabilization, alongside a 64 MP infrared camera for night vision.
The Pro version of the Xever 7 integrates a FLIR® Lepton® 3.5 thermal sensor, enabling the detection of thermal signatures in low visibility conditions. Connectivity is enhanced with eSIM support, simplifying data plan management and international travel.
The device is built to withstand extreme conditions, featuring resistance to water, dust, and drops. The RugOne Xever 7 series will soon be available across Portugal and wider Europe.
