Ruby Franke, motherhood influencer, was convicted of child abuse

Ruby Franke, a 42-year-old American YouTuber who shared parenting-themed videos, has been convicted of child molestation.

The mother of six children faces at least four years in prison: the sentence includes four prison terms between one and 15 years.

Franke was arrested in August 2023 after her 12-year-old son, who was malnourished and had sores all over his body, ran away from home and asked a neighbor for food and water.

The child remained in the home of Jodi Hildebrandt, the 54-year-old YouTuber’s former partner, who was also convicted of child abuse and received the same sentences as Franke.

One of the influencer’s daughters was found in a similar condition. Shari Franke, the eldest daughter, 20, celebrated her mother’s incarceration in a post that she deleted.

During the trial, prosecutor Eric Clarke claimed that two of his children were living in a “concentration camp-like environment.” They lacked food, water, beds to sleep and any form of recreation, Clarke said.

Franke and Hildebrandt’s sentences will run consecutively, but the length of each sentence will be determined by the state parole board.

Ruby Franke apologized to her children

Both pleaded guilty. After hearing the verdict, Franke apologized to his children and said that he “believed darkness was light and right was wrong.”

Ruby Franke’s YouTube channel had over 2 million subscribers before it was removed. In his videos, he not only gave advice for parents but also showed his family’s everyday life.

In 2015, some of her viewers even reported her to Child Protective Services when one of her children said he was forced to sleep in a bean bag for seven months.
