Ruben Guerreiro Leads Movistar at Deutschland Tour

The German roads are calling, and for Ruben Guerreiro, it is a big moment. He steps up as the main man for Movistar at the Tour of Germany. The race kicks off this Wednesday. Guerreiro has a clear mission: lead his team to victory.

Alongside Guerreiro is his teammate Nelson Oliveira. Oliveira will not be chasing wins himself. His job is to support the team’s overall goal. He will be riding for the collective, making sure Guerreiro has the best chance. The Tour of Germany runs for five days, wrapping up on Sunday.

Guerreiro will have a strong group of riders helping him. Spain’s Iván Romeo and Jon Barrenetxea are on his side. So are Colombia’s Kevin David and the American Will Barta. These riders all have something to prove. They were not chosen for the upcoming Vuelta a España, which starts Saturday in Turin. This race is their chance to shine.

Movistar is hopeful, but the competition is incredibly tough. Many big names in cycling will be there. Germany’s Florian Lipowitz from Red Bull is a threat. So are Brandon McNulty and Rafał Majka from Emirates. British star Geraint Thomas (Ineos) is racing. Belgian powerhouse Wout van Aert (Visma) will also be in the mix. It promises to be a thrilling fight.

One notable rider will be missing. Mads Pedersen, the Dane from Lidl, won this race last year in 2024. He will not defend his title. Pedersen is instead heading to the Vuelta a España. His absence changes the dynamic a bit.

The race course itself favors certain types of riders. It is good for sprinters or those who can push hard over rolling terrain. There are no major high mountain climbs. Riders will not face any finishes at high altitudes either. This means the stages should be fast and exciting.
