The song became more widely known after receiving the award for best song at the Golden Globes on January 10. The songwriter was visibly emotional when he received the award. The song’s full-scale appeal makes Naatu Naatu an Academy Awards darling as well.
RRR, starring Ram Charan and NT Rama Rao Jr., is one of the highest grossing Indian films of all time. India decided not to submit RRR as an official selection for an Oscar nomination in the Best International Feature Film category. The team behind RRR changed tack and went all out for a Best Picture nomination.
Although the film was not nominated in the Best Picture category, RRR has a shot at an Oscar. The presentation of the 95th Academy Awards will take place on March 12.
