Rovanpera starts dominating and Tanak with problems

Estonia fits the likes of Kalle Rovanpera like a glove. The young world champion has won the Baltic event in its last two editions and has started dominating in the ‘shakedown’. On the contrary, local idol Ott Tanak has again had problems with his Ford after marking the best time in the first pass.

The Kastre special, of 4 kilometres, has served for the drivers to do their last test with the cars before the competition starts this afternoon with the Tartu super special. The morning has been sunny, although there is a forecast of rain for the whole weekend.

Tanak started with enthusiasm and was the fastest in the initial pass, but as soon as he finished, Your Ford’s engine has started to misfire while the exhaust was on fire. He has not been able to make more passes and the team has not yet confirmed if he will be able to start.

So it was Rovanpera who took the lead in the next three passes, setting the best time in the total calculation. “This is definitely one of the most beautiful rallies”, explained the finnish. “Generally the roads are in good condition and you can enjoy and run a lot. A high-speed rally where you need to be very precise.” He has been escorted on the table by the Hyundais of Thierry Neuville and Esapekka Lappi.
