New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor has announced his retirement from international cricket. He will say goodbye to cricket after the series of two tests at home against Bangladesh and 6 ODI against Australia, Holland. He has announced it through a tweet.
Taylor wrote: “Today I announce that I will retire from international cricket after 2 test matches against Bangladesh and 6 ODI against Australia, Netherlands. Thank you for the incredible support you have given me for 17 years. I had the opportunity to represent my country, it is a great honor.
Today I am announcing my retirement from international cricket at the end of the summer at home, two more events against Bangladesh and six odi’s against Australia and the Netherlands. Taylor wrote: ‘It has been a wonderful journey. I feel that I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to represent the country for so long. It is a great honor to play with and against the greats of cricket. I have made many memories and good friends during this time. But all good things have to end at some point. I think this moment is the right one for me. I thank my family, friends and all those people, for what I have come to where I am today.
Ross Taylor, 37, made his New Zealand debut in 2006. He is New Zealand’s top run scorer in test cricket. He has scored 7,584 runs in test matches. He also has 8,591 races at ODI.
