Thakur Anoop Singh’s latest film Romeo S3 has been released just before the highly anticipated Marathi film Chhaava. Anoop Singh has previously appeared in several South Indian films and had a small role in the Hindi film Commando 2. Romeo S3 is an adaptation of the Tamil film Si 3, starring Surya, in which Anoop Singh played a significant role. Jayantilal Gada, the founder of Pen Studios, has been a strong supporter of Anoop Singh’s talent and has been working to launch him as a leading man in Hindi cinema.
A Plot That Feels Stuck in the Past
Romeo S3 is a police officer story that lacks research and understanding of the audience. The film follows a similar plot to Si 3, where a police officer uncovers the activities of an underworld don with the help of a journalist. However, the Hindi adaptation fails to bring anything new or original to the table. The story feels outdated, reminiscent of masala films from the late 1990s.
A Leading Man Who Falls Short
Anoop Singh struggles to convincingly portray his character as a senior police officer. His attempt to sport a rugged look with his mustache and beard doesn’t quite work. The character’s actions often come across as unbefitting of a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP). His romantic scenes are unconvincing, and the comedy feels forced.

Direction That Misses the Mark
Guddu Dhanoa, the director of Romeo S3, has a rich history in Hindi cinema. He has directed films starring Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol and produced Shah Rukh Khan’s debut film Deewana. However, his direction in Romeo S3 lacks a modern touch, and the film feels disconnected from contemporary audiences. It appears that the primary goal was to launch Anoop Singh as a leading man rather than create an engaging film.
A Weak Supporting Cast
The film boasts a large supporting cast, including Palak Tiwari, Aman Dhaliwal, Sachin Khedekar, Anant Jog, Zakir Hussain, and Rajesh Khattar. However, the characters lack depth, and the acting is often over-the-top. The screenplay, penned by Shailesh Verma, is uninspired, and the dialogues are clichéd. The film’s technical aspects and music are also underwhelming.
Romeo S3 is set to struggle at the box office, overshadowed by two major Hollywood releases this week. The film’s limited screen count is a testament to its lack of appeal.
