Rohit Sharma Set to Compete with Jasprit Bumrah and Other Contenders for ICC Award

ICC Player of the Month Award for June: Rohit Sharma Nominated Along with Jasprit Bumrah and Rehmanullah Gurbaz

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the nominations for the Player of the Month for June, and Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma’s name is among the three finalists. He will compete with his own teammate Jasprit Bumrah and Afghan batsman Rehmanullah Gurbaz for the award.

Rohit Sharma’s Brilliant Performance in T20 World Cup

Rohit Sharma has been in excellent form in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024, where he led India to victory. He was the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament, scoring 257 runs at an average of 36.71 and a strike rate of 156.7. In India’s last Super 8 match against Australia, he played an aggressive innings of 92 runs off 41 balls, and in the semi-finals against England, he scored 57 runs off 39 balls.

Jasprit Bumrah’s Lethal Bowling

Jasprit Bumrah, another Indian cricketer, has also been included in the nomination. He performed brilliantly throughout the tournament, taking 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 and an economy of just 4.17. He was selected as the best player of the T20 World Cup and became the Player of the Tournament.

Rehmanullah Gurbaz’s Impressive Performance

Rehmanullah Gurbaz, the opening batsman of Afghanistan, has also made it to the nomination. He helped Afghanistan reach the semi-finals of the World Cup for the first time, scoring 281 runs, which is the highest number of runs scored by any batsman in the tournament. His average was 35.12, and his strike rate was 124.33. This is the first time an Afghan batsman has achieved this milestone.

The voting is currently underway, and the ICC will announce the winner soon.
