Rohit Sharma Breaks Record for Most Sixes in ODI Cricket History

Indian captain Rohit Sharma is renowned for his explosive batting style, and he once again demonstrated this in Cuttack. A three-match ODI series is currently underway between India and England. In the second ODI, Rohit broke the world record for the most sixes, moving into second place in terms of hitting the most sixes in ODIs. He surpassed West Indies veteran Chris Gayle, with Rohit now having hit a total of 333 sixes.

The second ODI between India and England is being played in Cuttack, where Rohit Sharma opened the batting with Shubman Gill. During his innings, he scored 29 runs off 18 balls, including 3 sixes and 1 four. This performance not only helped India get an explosive start but also allowed Rohit to break the record for the most sixes in ODIs.

Record for the Most Sixes in ODIs

The record for hitting the most sixes in ODIs is held by Shahid Afridi, a former Pakistan player who has hit 351 sixes in 398 ODIs. Rohit Sharma has now moved into second place, overtaking Chris Gayle who has hit 331 sixes in 301 matches. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is in fifth place in the list, having hit 229 sixes in 350 ODIs.

India won the first match of the ODI series, but England made a strong comeback in the second match, setting India a target of 305 runs. At the time of writing, Team India had scored 47 runs in 6 overs. Ravindra Jadeja bowled impressively, taking 3 wickets for 35 runs in 10 overs.
