Rohit Regrets Missed Catch After India Wins Champions Trophy Match Against Bangladesh

Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, the Indian team secured a remarkable victory in the Champions Trophy 2025, winning against Bangladesh in a Group-A match by 6 wickets. The match, held on February 20 at Dubai International Stadium, saw Bangladesh score 228 runs in 49.4 overs, which Team India effortlessly won in 46.3 overs, thanks to Shubman Gill’s outstanding century. Mohammed Shami’s exceptional bowling and Akshar Patel’s spin magic were notable highlights, although an easy catch was missed by captain Rohit in the slip, which could have led to a hat-trick.

A Missed Catch and a Dinner Invitation

After the match, Rohit shared his thoughts on the missed catch, saying, “I felt you’d talk about the catch I dropped during the game, but Gill’s batting was spectacular. Tomorrow, I’ll take the catch to dinner – it was an easy one, and at my level, I should have caught it.” He expressed happiness with Shami’s performance, which was long-awaited, and praised the team’s overall effort.

Pitch Assessment and Team Performance

Regarding the pitch at Dubai International Stadium, Rohit noted, “You can’t label the pitch as slow based on just one match. We adapt to the situation and plan accordingly. As a team, we assessed the circumstances better, and in a big tournament like the Champions Trophy, every match brings pressure.” Team India is set to play their next match against Pakistan on the same ground in Dubai.
