‘Rogue’ reigns in Sanxenxo

The second test of the Spanish League of 6 Meters in Sanxenxo and the ‘Rogue’ set the pace. Throughout the weekend three sleeves were disputed, one on Saturday and two this Sunday, and the three-time European champion of the class proved to be sweet because he won two of them. ‘Bribon’, who has won the first Olympic gold in history for Spanish sailing, Jane Abascal, at the helm and with King Juan Carlos as crew member, beat ‘Titia’, second, and ‘Erica, third.

‘Bribon’ was the winner of this second test of the Spanish 6 Meter League thanks to the victory in the regatta last Saturday and a 1-3 run in the two sleeves this Sunday. ‘Titia’, by Alicia Freire and Mauricio Sánchez-Bella, prevailed in the last sleeve of the day, but it did not help her to overcome ‘Rogue’ in the classification. It is true that both boats from the Real Club Naútico de Sanxenxo added five points in total, but the tiebreaker was broken in favor of ‘Bribon’ by having a greater number of partial victories (two). ‘Erica’, by Violeta Álvarez, completed the podium with partial 3-3-4. ‘Alibaba II’, ‘Stardust’ and ‘Ian’ they were fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

Regarding the general classification of the Spanish 6 Meter League, only one point separates ‘Ribbon’ (eight) and Titia (nine). It is yes, both ships will be the Spanish representatives in the Classics division at the World Cup in Cowes (United Kingdom) to be held from August 29 to September 8. The next appointment of the Spanish 6 Meter League will be in the month of May, specifically on the 19th, 20th and 21st.
