Roger Federer Headed to International Tennis Hall of Fame: ‘Tremendous Honor’

Roger Federer will be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, receiving the sport’s highest honor in his first year of eligibility.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by the organization. Federer, 44, expressed immense gratitude for the recognition.

“It is a tremendous honor to enter the International Tennis Hall of Fame and be among so many of the game’s greatest champions,” Federer said. “Throughout my career, I always valued the history of tennis and the example set by those who played before me.”

He received the news during an event at the Swiss federation center. Federer noted his happiness that the announcement came from his peers at the place where his “path began.”

Federer was the first male player to achieve 20 Grand Slam singles titles. He is also one of only eight athletes to complete a career Grand Slam.

While Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have since surpassed his Grand Slam tally, Federer’s early dominance set new benchmarks in the sport.

His career includes 103 singles titles, a doubles gold medal at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, and a Davis Cup victory in 2014. He received the ATP Sportsmanship Award 13 times and was voted ATP Fans’ Favorite a record 19 times.

Journalist and commentator Mary Carrillo will also be inducted alongside Federer.

The induction ceremony is scheduled for late August 2026. It will take place in Newport, Rhode Island, U.S.
