Roger Binny and Rajeev Shukla arrive at the Attari-Wagah border and will watch the Afghanistan-Lanka game in Lahore

Roger Binny, President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Vice-President Rajeev Shukla departed for Pakistan today for their two-day visit. After arriving in Amritsar, both of them crossed the Attari-Wagah border into Pakistan. The sixth match of the 2023 Asian Cup will be played between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka on September 5 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. During this game, both the BCCI President and Vice President will be present at the stadium.

This is happening for the first time since 2008 when a BCCI official visits Pakistan. The Asian Cup invitation was sent to BCCI officials on behalf of the Pakistan Cricket Board. The PCB also organized an official dinner in Lahore, which will be attended by both the BCCI President and Vice President.

Speaking to the media before leaving for Pakistan, Rajeev Shukla said his visit would be strictly about cricket and would not include any political discussions. At the same time, BCCI Vice President Roger Binny said I was looking forward to my journey.

The Asia Cup 2023 will be organized in hybrid model. Pakistan has the right to host the game, but only four games will be played there. The remaining 9 matches including the final will be organized in Sri Lanka. However, given the weather in Sri Lanka, some changes to the venue are again to be expected. Considering the heavy rains in Colombo, the decision can be made to host the games in Dambulla or Kandy.
