Rodolfo De Paoli: "Tigre was the best of the 35 teams"

Barracas Central coach Rodolfo De Paoli remarked that Tigre, who defeated his team 1-0 to be promoted to the First Division, was “the best of the 35 teams” of the First National tournament.

“I have no doubts and not only because of this game that Tigre was the best team of the 35 of the contest,” said the sports reporter, once the match was concluded on the Banfield court, where the final was played for access to the elite of the Argentine soccer.

The former coach of Nueva Chicago said the match “was defined by details. They won it because they were better,” he said. “Between Tigre, San Martín de Tucumán, Ferro and us were the teams that played the best in this tournament. And they are the ones that reached these decisive instances,” he reflected.

“They pressured us at the start and it was the first time that a rival surpassed us throughout the championship. In the first part there were more,” admitted the DT. “Later in the second half the emotional thing weighed more than the football thing. The goal was quite far away,” said De Paoli.

“The idea was to cover (Sebastián) Prediger, but we could not do it. Anyway, our players gave everything and I am proud of the fact of having led the club in the most important game in its history,” he reflected.

Barracas Central will continue competing in the Reduced for the second promotion to First Division, entering the semifinals.
