The Iraqi air base Ain al-AssadWestern Iraq, which hosts American soldiers from the international coalition, was attacked today by about twenty rockets, injuring at least one Iraqi soldier, military sources told EFE.
Most of the rockets were intercepted in the air by the base's anti-aircraft system, except for one that hit an empty area inside the base in Al Anbar province without causing casualties, an Iraqi army captain who requested anonymity told Efe .
However, a member of the Iraqi Army's 29th Brigade was injured by the shrapnel that fell in the air after the missiles were intercepted, according to the source, who did not provide details on who the perpetrators of this attack were.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for this action, but everything points to it being taken over by the pro-Iran militia group. Islamic resistance in Iraqwhich has carried out similar attacks against US interests in Iraq and Syria.
This large-scale operation comes on a day when Israel is accused of attacking a residential building in Damascus, which resulted in the deaths of at least five members of Iran's Revolutionary Guard, as well as another targeted operation against it a car in southern Lebanonwhich has caused at least four deaths.
