River signings: Demichelis' 5 bids to win the Libertadores

In a tireless quest to strengthen his squad for the coming season and aim for the 2024 Conmebol Libertadores Cup title, current River Plate coach Martín Demichelis has presented the club’s board with a list of five priority signings, according to the Millionaire site.

The millionaire team is also working on several departures that could open the door to the five new arrivals:

The 5 signings River Plate wants to make

-Leonardo Godoy: Estudiantes de La Plata right-back Leonardo Godoy tops the wish list. Although there are no formal negotiations yet, River has held preliminary consultations and talks as the player has several offers from European teams interested in him.

-Gonzalo Montiel: Gonzalo Montiel, currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, is another target to strengthen the right-back position. Although his situation is complicated, Sevilla could pause the loan move to the Premier League, but Montiel’s preference is to sell and stay in Europe. River Plate is interested, but the player’s market value could be an obstacle.

-German Pezzella: As for Germán Pezzella, Betis defender, the River managers want his return before his contract expires in 2025. They consider Pezzella as a future reference in the team, especially after the departure of experienced players.

-Roberto Pereyra: Udinese midfielder Roberto Pereyra is another of River Plate’s wishes. With his contract expiring in June 2024, Pereyra has made a strong impression in previous transfer markets and the Argentine club is considering his return home.

-Agustin Martegani: Finally, Agustín Martegani, currently with Salernitana in Italy, is in River Plate’s sights. The attacking midfielder was signed by San Lorenzo and there is talk of the possibility that he could complete his contract through a move as San Lorenzo want Palavecino.
