Once released from his contract, Pity Martínez would be ready to sign with Núñez’s team and if all goes to plan, official confirmation is expected to come between Monday and Wednesday next week. Should this inclusion come along with that of Boselli, the player would be the sixth reinforcement for the team in this market, having already seen the return of Ramiro Funes Mori and Manuel Lanzini, as well as the additions of Facundo Colidio and Nicolás Fonseca. this latest accession was in December.

Negotiations for his return began weeks ago and Martínez, who has already expressed his desire to return to Argentina and escape the Middle East, was at the Monumental during River’s Copa Libertadores game between Inter de Porto Alegre.

However, despite the agreement, Martínez will have to wait a while before he can wear the Millo shirt again due to his injury. The player is in the final stages of his recovery from a lateral ligament tear in his right knee, which he sustained during a game against Al-Taawon in February. He is expected to return to normal training around October.

Martínez, who was crowned 2018 Copa Libertadores champion with River, joined Al-Nassr in 2020 from Atlanta United. His history in Saudi Arabia has been a mix of successes and challenges, marked by injuries but also successes in the Saudi Arabian Super Cup. His return to River Plate, if materialized, could be an exciting chapter in his football career.
