Rishabh Pant Takes Aim at Punjab Kings with Daring Claim Already

IPL 2025: Rishabh Pant Takes a Dig at Punjab Kings

Lucknow Super Giants’ New Captain Reveals His Mega Auction Anxieties

Rishabh Pant has been named the new captain of the Lucknow Super Giants for the upcoming IPL 2025 season, and he recently spoke about his anxieties during the mega auction. In a candid admission, Pant revealed that he was apprehensive about being bought by the Punjab Kings.

Pant shared that he was closely following the mega auction from Australia and felt a sense of relief when the Punjab Kings, coached by Ricky Ponting, bought another player. This significantly reduced their purse, making it unlikely for them to bid for Pant. Reflecting on his emotions during that time, Pant stated, “I was internally tense, and the reason for that was the Punjab Kings.”

Lucknow Super Giants and other teams, including Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad, were engaged in a bidding war for Pant. Ultimately, LSG emerged victorious, making Pant the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League. Delhi Capitals also attempted to use the Right to Match (RTM) card on Pant, but LSG secured his services with a bid of Rs 27 crore.
