Rishabh Pant should not have taken command of Team India, find out why the former coach said so

Rishabh Pant has been in the news since taking charge of the India team in the T20 series against South Africa. India had to face defeat in the first two matches, after which doubts arose over Rishabh Pant’s captaincy. Along with this, Rishabh Pant’s bat remained silent throughout this series. Former BCCI coach Madan Lal believes that Rishabh Pant needs to go a long way before becoming captain.

However, Rishabh Pant was appointed as the team’s vice-captain for the South African series. But due to KL Rahul’s injury, the leadership of the team fell to Pant. Madan Lal says that Pant needs to work on his hitting now and then that will reflect on his leadership.

Madan Lal said, “I would have prevented Rishabh Pant from becoming the captain. I don’t let that happen. Such a player should be given the responsibility later on. Being the captain of Team India is a big deal. Pant is young and not you’re going nowhere right now. The more you play, the better.

Rishabh Pant is being seen as the future captain of the India team. Madan Lal compared Pant to Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. He said: “Right now, Pant should be given two more years. Only after that should he think about becoming the captain. If he gets his game forward, he can be a good captain. Dhoni remained a calm and collected captain. Virat Kohli was a great hitter Pant also has to show something like this.
