The latest addition to the VALORANT universe is about to shake things up. Say hello to Corrode, the new map that’s set to drop on June 25. This medieval-themed map, located in France, features a unique blend of industrial equipment and layered defenses, all situated on vast salt plains. The layout is designed to challenge players in new ways, with two Spike points, three routes, and a focus on strategic positioning.
Corrode’s design aims to reduce the overwhelming aggression of abilities, making for a more balanced gameplay experience. The map’s layered defenses and retreat positions will require players to think carefully about their every move. According to Joey Simas, leader of VALORANT’s map design team, the goal was to create a map that would “solidify everything we’ve learned so far” and address the issues players are currently facing, such as the excess of utility abilities.
“We hope Corrode will alleviate some of the pressure caused by utility abilities in VALORANT, and at the same time reward careful planning and strategic execution, making every choice count.”
When Corrode launches, it will be available in ranked queues, but with a twist. For the first two weeks, players will only lose 50% of their rank rating (CR) in case of defeat, while still earning 100% of their rank rating for wins. Additionally, the “Frenetic” game mode will have an exclusive queue available from June 25 to 30.
Corrode’s key features include:
- 2 Spike points
- 3-route layout
- Layered defenses and retreat positions
- Reduced aggression from abilities
The new map promises to bring a fresh dynamic to the game, and players can get a first look at it during the VALORANT Masters Toronto 2025 finals, where it was first announced. With its unique design and balanced gameplay, Corrode is set to become a fan favorite. Get ready to experience VALORANT like never before.
