Riot Games Removes Talon Esports from LoL, Valorant Leagues Over Unpaid Wages

Riot Games has terminated its agreements with esports organization PSG Talon, removing it from both the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP) and VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Pacific, citing significant delays in payments to players and coaches.

The decisive action by the global esports developer this week underscores its commitment to enforcing financial accountability and safeguarding player welfare within its professional leagues.

Following the termination, all affected professional players and coaches are now authorized to explore new opportunities with other organizations. Riot Games is actively working to find a replacement team to fill PSG Talon’s vacated slot in the LCP.

Riot Games stated on the official LoL Esports website that it had engaged with Talon over an extended period after becoming aware of the payment issues and other financial problems. The company also provided multiple extensions to allow Talon time to demonstrate financial stability and resolve its outstanding debts.

A statement from LoL Esports staff elaborated, “Talon ended up not being able to comply with the requirement in time to continue in the LCP.”

PSG Talon also acknowledged the termination, issuing a statement through its VALORANT social media channels. The organization cited financial difficulties that “significantly affected commercial esports operations.”

The team expressed gratitude for Riot’s efforts to resolve pending issues over the past month. PSG Talon emphasized its dedication to ensuring a smooth transition for its roster.

“Our priority is to ensure that our talented roster can compete as a team under a new organization for the next season,” PSG Talon stated. “There is nothing more important for us than ensuring that players are in a position to reach the potential maximum.”

In VALORANT, PSG Talon’s last major competition was the VCT 2025: Pacific – Second Stage, where it secured a third-place finish. For League of Legends, the team participated in Worlds 2025, concluding its campaign early with a 15th/16th position.
