Five years have passed since VALORANT burst onto the gaming scene. To celebrate, Riot Games is throwing a party – and it’s all about the Brazilian community. Meet “Aqui é Vavá”, a campaign that shining a light on the unique bond between Brazilian players and the tactical FPS game.
With over 35 million monthly active users, VALORANT is among the top 10 most-played PC games globally, according to Newzoo. Brazil is home to one of the most engaged communities, with a growing number of players every year. So, what makes the Brazilian VALORANT scene so special?
A cultural phenomenon
The campaign, launched on Monday, focuses on four main pillars: community, culture, gameplay, and esports. “Aqui é Vavá” recognizes how Brazilian players have made the game their own, creating memes, nicknames, and a distinct identity for characters, maps, and weapons. It all started with a special video on VALORANT Brasil’s YouTube channel, featuring influencers chatting about the community’s most iconic moments.
The festivities will continue throughout June. Next up is the release of the Documento Vavá, a mockumentary that humorously explores the habits, superstitions, and expressions of Brazilian players. In five major cities – São Paulo, Porto Alegre, Salvador, Manaus, and Brasília – local artists will create themed murals in partnership with the InstaGrafite project. Fans and influencers will meet up in front of the murals to take in the artwork and share their passion for the game.
A month of celebrations
The campaign will wrap up on June 22nd with a massive party at the Riot Games Arena in São Paulo. The event will feature gameplay, thematic activations, giveaways, and a watch party for the Masters Toronto final. As Fernando Birche, Publishing Manager at Riot Games Brasil, put it: “The 5-year campaign is a tribute to the players who made our game so much more than just a game in Brazil.” Each player has contributed to the community’s unique spirit, making it stand out globally.
The party is a nod to the community’s creativity and dedication. With VALORANT, Brazilian players have found a game that’s not just about competition, but about self-expression and camaraderie. As the campaign comes to a close, one thing is clear: the Brazilian VALORANT community is here to stay – and it’s going to keep on growing.
