The whistle is about to blow on a new football season, and the pitch at Rio Maior Municipal Stadium is now ready. Just one week stands between us and the opening match of the 2025/26 Liga Betclic. Casa Pia will host Sporting at 8:45 PM on the 8th, and it looks like the stage is set.
Things weren’t looking so good recently. Just a little while ago, the playing surface was in rough shape. Our friends at Record even reported on its poor state. This created a real worry. There was a chance the "Geese," as Casa Pia are known, might not be able to welcome the two-time national champions to their temporary home. Work started quickly last week, and in just three days, a brand-new green carpet was laid down. Desmor, the local company in charge of the Rio Maior Sports Complex, made sure the job got done.
For the third season in a row, Casa Pia will play their home games at Rio Maior. Their usual stadium, Pina Manique, is still waiting for much-needed upgrades to begin. So, this municipal stadium has become a familiar, if temporary, home for the club. Getting the pitch right was crucial for this important opening game.
Tickets Are Moving
If you want to catch the action, tickets are already being snapped up. Casa Pia started selling tickets online this Friday. Before that, on Thursday, there was a special sale just for club members at Pina Manique. For everyone else, tickets go on sale this Tuesday. You can pick them up at the Rio Maior Municipal Stadium from 10 AM to 6 PM.
