Rins and LCR Honda dream of everything

Álex Rins is ready to start a new stage. LCR Honda has unveiled its new frames for this 2023 and, along with its prototypes, its new star rider with whom they hope to get out of a pothole in which they have been trapped for several years. It won’t be easy, but both the satellite and the official team continue to advocate for changes as a formula for its revival. Marc Márquez and Takaaki Nakagami remain, but the duo led by Suzuki are already wearing the colors of the ‘golden wing’ to get down to work. The formation of Lucio Cecchinello, although with a direct contract with HRC, has landed Rins, his great asset to give a leap in quality that Álex Márquez could not ensure after two years of intense work in the team and, which ended with his direct departure to Ducati’s Gresini Racing.

One Alex for another Alex. Same name, but totally opposite characters. Rins joins the team with the treatment of an official driver and with the guarantee of also having official material until 2024. In other words, he will work with a 2023 prototype, as is customary in the Monaco-based formation. “I will start 2023 with work and determination, working on my bike to have a good potential”, assures the Spaniard, who does not change his objective: “My current dream is to be world champion, I work hard and fight for it. To be a champion, you need to work hard, be with good professionals, fight at work, with your family, you have to have everything under control”.

Highlighting your strengths, Rins points to “consistency” or “hard work from the beginning” every weekend because, he reveals, since Friday he tries to “study and learn the circuit, with notes from previous years” and tries to be with the engineers “to understand the bike or know the secrets of each track”. For this reason, each year is a new adventure and a reason to “learn something new”. “During these years I learned a lot to work under pressure, be calm with a lot of pressure, with a lot of speed on the track. Especially in recent years I have taken a big step in my mentality, in my mind to be calm and manage different situations”, adds the Spaniard, who will need a lot of that patience to understand an RC213V that is still missing.

Nakagami, under pressure

In his seventh season in the premier class, Rins will wear Castrol’s colors (which confirms his continued sponsorship) while his teammate, Takaaki Nakagami will wear the colors of Idemitsu, his Japanese sponsor. The Japanese will also have direct support from the factory, so both riders will have a common goal together with the officials: to make HRC recover its place in MotoGP as the most successful brand in the World Championship. It will not be easy and time is pressing: Nakagami is still in Honda’s sights which, despite giving him a new opportunity in the category, still has Ai Ogura in mind as their possible next Japanese star on the team.
