Rinderknech-Kokkinakis, surprise finish in Adelaide

The Adelaide International, ATP 250 tournament, leaves us with a surprising final between the young Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech and the local talent Thanasi Kokkinakis, who want to take a leap in their career with what would be the first ATP title for both of them.

Rinderknech, one of the young figures of French tennis despite his late explosion at the age of 26, beat his compatriot Corentin Moutet in two sets 6-1 and 6-3 in a match where he won 90% of his first serve points and hit 17 winners to just 9 unforced errors.

For his part, Kokkinakis, spurred on by the Australian stands, gave the big surprise of the day by defeating Croatian Marin Cilic, fourth seed, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (10) in a fast-paced game. The Australian, who became 69th in the world and is now 145th, was superior to Cilic thanks to his successes (36 winners each) but, above all, thanks to his few errors, since he made 12 unforced errors for the 30 of the Croatian.

Riske-Keys, the women’s final

In the women’s draw, Alison Riske and Madison Keys will fight for the title this Saturday at the WTA 250 tournament. Riske, who advanced to the semifinals due to the withdrawal of Madison Brengle, went to the final without playing after the abandonment of the Slovenian Tamara Zidansek due to injury. In the final Riske will face a Madison Keys who managed to overcome Coco Gauff’s self-confidence and come back from the match 3-6, 6-2 and 7-5.
