Rikkie Kollé: Miss Holland crowns a trans woman for the first time

The Netherlands, a region located on the west coast of the Netherlands, crowned this weekend Rikkie Kollebeing the first transgender woman to win the title of Miss Holland and at the age of 22 she will represent that country in Miss Universe.

Ona Moody, the last Miss Holland, and the current Miss Universe, R’Bonney Gabriel, were in charge of presenting their awards to Rikkie Kollé, who is now preparing to compete with women from different parts of the world in the beauty contest that will be celebrated in December in El Salvador.

The model born in the Netherlands will not be the first trans woman to be able to participate in Miss Universe, since Ángela Ponce, former Miss Spain, did so in 2018.

In addition, in Venezuela, Sofía Salomón plans to be the first transgender woman to compete in Miss Venezuela.

Rikkie Kollé began her transition from a very young age and at the age of 11 adopted a new name and later, at the age of 16, underwent hormone treatments. This year she finally had sex reassignment surgery.
